Federal Pell Grant
Pell Grants are need-based federal student aid to which other federal and nonfederal aid may be added.
If a student meets all requirements for a Pell Grant then the federal government grants the student aid.
Eligibility Requirements
- The Pell Grant is need-based and related directly to the Student Aid Index (SAI) calculated by completing the FAFSA.
- Undergraduate student who has not earned a first bachelor's or professional degree.
Application Process
- File a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)
- Upon filing the FAFSA, you will immediately be notified of Pell Grant eligibility through the FAFSA Submission Summary (FSS)
Award Information
Amounts can change yearly. For the 2025-2026 and 2026-2027 award years, the maximum is $7,395. The amount awarded also depends on:
- Student’s financial need
- Status as full-time or part-time
- Attendance in the full academic year or less
Students may not receive Pell Grant funds from more than one school at a time. Additionally, students may receive the Pell Grant for no more than 12 full-time semesters.
