Financial Aid Prep: What to Do While You Wait
- Early Action admits will receive their financial aid offers on February 16.
- Regular Decision admits will receive their financial aid offers on February 23.
- Prospective students will receive an email when their offer is ready to view in their financial aid portal.
Through this session, participants will:
- Develop a clear understanding of key financial aid concepts, including cost of attendance and direct vs. indirect costs
- Learn how to accurately assess their true cost to attend Virginia Tech
- Gain confidence in comparing financial aid offers and planning for both the academic year and long-term affordability
- Log in to your financial aid portal to check for any required documents.
- If documents are requested, submit them as quickly as possible.
- Delays in submitting required documents may delay your financial aid offer.
- If you have not completed the FAFSA, you can still file to receive any remaining aid eligibility.

- Complete the General Scholarship Application through your Admissions portal using your applicant credentials.
- Filing these applications allows you to be considered for any remaining federal, state, and institutional aid.
- Submit your FAFSA by March 1 to qualify for maximum federal aid.
- Virginia residents must file by this date to be considered for state financial aid.
- Filing after March 1 will limit the types or amounts of aid you can receive.
