Federal Pell Grant
Pell Grants are need-based federal student aid to which other federal and nonfederal aid may be added. If a student meets all requirements for a Pell Grant then the federal government grants the student aid.
Eligibility Requirements
- Need-based using the Expected Family Contribution (EFC)
- Undergraduate Student (a student who has not earned a first bachelors or professional degree)
Application Process
- File a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)
- Upon filing the FAFSA, you will immediately be notified of Pell Grant Eligibility through the Student Aid Report (SAR)
Award Information
Amounts can change yearly. For the 2014-15 award year, the maximum will be $5730. The amount awarded also depends on:
- Student’s financial need
- Status as full-time or part-time
- Plans to attend for full academic year or less
You may not receive Pell Grant funds from more than one school at a time
Student may receive the Pell Grant for no more than 12 full-time semesters
