Stamps Leadership Scholarship

Stamps Leadership Scholars

Virginia Tech is pleased to partner with the Stamps Family Charitable Foundation to offer the Stamps Leadership Scholarship to top incoming freshman Honors students who have demonstrated exceptional achievements in academics and leadership.

Stamps Scholars receive funding for four years of tuition, fees, room, and board. Because these students are among the strongest in the university community, we expect great things from them. Each scholar will receive a generous enrichment fund for experiential learning opportunities, which could include undergraduate research, internships, study abroad or away, academic and co-curricular conferences, or a combination of opportunities. One fully funded enrichment option is the Presidential Global Scholars program, an interdisciplinary study abroad program based in Switzerland for some of the university’s most outstanding undergraduates.

Stamps Scholars will live in student-led Honors community houses with other high-achieving peers pursuing similarly rigorous courses of study, service, and personal development. All Honors residents enjoy increased individual contact with faculty and participate in enriching co-curricular functions such as dinners with award-winning faculty and guests. In 2012, we were proud to host author Toni Morrison.

This scholarship is named for Roe and Penny Stamps. The Stamps have founded merit scholarship programs at more than 30 universities to give students world-class educational experiences like the ones that have so influenced their own lives.

Any student applying to Virginia Tech is eligible to apply to the Stamps Scholarship. To apply for the Stamps Scholarship students must apply to University Honors. Any student applying to Virginia Tech is eligible to apply to University Honors, there is no SAT or GPA cut-off. The priority deadline to apply for consideration of the Stamps Scholarship is December 1, 2015. Finalists will be invited to campus for an interview.

We look forward to seeing the great things that these scholars will accomplish in their own lives, in the lives of others, and in our communities.
